Young Learner English Language Summer Programme, Edinburgh
Our international summer school, based at the scenic Craiglockhart campus of Napier University, has been providing English language courses to 12-17 year-olds in Edinburgh for almost 30 years.
In 2012 the programme is running between 1st July and 11th August and courses can be booked for either 2 or 3 weeks. We welcome bookings from both groups and individuals, with individual students in 2011 making up almost 50% of the total numbers. We also maintain a good blend of nationalities each year, with the mix in 2011 including students from Spain, Italy, Poland, China, France, Russia, Holland, Czech Republic, Romania, Germany, Switzerland, Kuwait and Turkey.

Accommodation
Our Young Learner Summer Programme students are placed with host families, who play a key role in helping to ensure their guests settle quickly in Edinburgh and take home fond memories of their time at Hamilton.
Our homestay providers are parents themselves and provide a caring environment within which our students are encouraged to live as part of the family. A healthy interaction between the school and our homestay providers has been established over the years, with children of host families invited to join us for afternoon and evening activities, including our annual barbeque.

Getting to and from campus
Travelling to and from campus each day is an important part of the learning experience for Hamilton students and all students are accompanied to the school on their first day by a member of their host family. Each student is required to purchase a local bus pass on their first day at the school, which costs approximately £20 per week.
Edinburgh’s comprehensive bus network makes reaching the Craiglockhart campus a straightforward affair. Lothian Buses offer a number of services which stop at or very close to the school. The numbers 4, 10, 27 and 45 run regularly via Colinton Road, while the No 23 stops on campus. Timetable and route maps are provided for all bus services on the first day of the course.
